The first day together will be a brief orientation and introductions in Broken Hill NSW. After departing the bustling desert city the 4WD tour heads north via Nuchea Lake.
Takes you back to nature - experience the vastness and quiet of the red sand desert country of the Australian Outback. Trek through the meeting of the corners of the states - of New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
On to White Cliffs, an opal town, with underground motel and the pioneering solar power generator, which makes for an interesting look.
Bush camping tonight and then on to Tibooburra and Cameron's Corner where 3 of Australia's states meet (New South Wales, Queensland and South Australian).
It is here that you get your first look at the renowned Dog Fence. The 4x4 trek then journeys on to Innamincka SA.
This is the area made known by the early Australian explorers Burke and Wills. There's much to explore in this Oz outback region, like the historical dig tree, and the old nurses quarters. Camping overnight at Cooper's Creek allows extra time for the Australian historian buffs.
Head north en route to the Australian outback town of Birdsville, Queensland, where the famous Birdsville Races are held each year. Along the way the 4WD tour travels across the oil rich Strzelecki Desert, stopping to check out Australia's largest shearing shed at Cordillo Downs Qld.
Stay in Birdsville for the night and do some sight seeing. A visit to the museum, the Birdsville Pub and the race track are all interesting excursions.
Birdsville is the last outback township for the expedition to stock up on supplies, water and fuel. Wave goodbye to civilization for a few days.
The 4x4 Simpson Desert Oz Adventure begins just out of Birdsville with a most challenging sand dune - tackle The Big Red!
4WD tactics are engaged in a number of locations on the Simpson Desert 4x4 trek as we proceed on to red desert dunes of unsurpassed beauty. Typical Australian patterns and colours are created as the red sand undulate in waves and ripples. Often miriades of wild flowers carpet the ground.
If the weather has been kind the track crosses Eyre Creek with its abundance of Australian native birdlife, otherwise a detour around is called for. Such detours add to the adventure aspect of an Australian Outback 4WD tour. Continue along the QAA Line to Poeppel Corner, where the Northern Territory and South Australia meet Queensland.
The tour is well and truely in The Simpson Desert northern South Australia now, as the Tag A Long heads west on the French Line, or the WAA Line, (depending on conditions). Trek through the low lying lakes of the Simpson Desert Regional Reserve, and the Simpson Desert Conservation Park, the lake country offers some real 4 wheel drive challenges that will once again show the advantages of being in a Tagalong group
Some wonderful desert mirages offer unusual photography as you cross from Freeth Junction to Dalhousie Springs, SA where hot water comes to the surface in a steaming sulfur pool.
The old homestead ruins of Dalhousie Springs are just a few klm's away from the pools. This short excursion is interesting before pushing on north to Mount Dare SA and crossing the border into the Northern Territory of Australia.
It's from here that the Outback 4x4 trek makes its way to the tiny town of Finke, the geographical "Dead Centre of Australia", and continues west along the Goyder Creek bed to Kulgera Central Australia Northern Territory. This is the final stop in your outback Australia 4WD adventure tour.
